Is the Broken Ballerina slot beautiful inside and out?
The Broken Ballerina slot from GameArt nearly got one of my rare and completely confusing eleven-out-of-ten ratings. However, the slot provider slipped up.
When I opened the slot, the first thing I said (out loud, in fact) was, “Wow, that’s beautiful.” And it really is! Every inch of the slot has been beautifully illustrated and animated to a degree where it almost stops being a slot game and slips into the realm of fine art. It’s just that gorgeous. The slot’s Swan Lake bonus game only elevated my impression of the slot, with every detail meticulously thought out. Then, I got to the free spins round.
The slot’s free spins don’t look bad. The problem is that they don’t look great. The feature takes you inside the music box with spinning gears and the broken ballerina herself. But the gears are generic and don’t seem to connect or have any discernible function. It just feels like they phoned this part of the slot in. The ballerina that appears during a round of free spins is also so close to being good, but there just hasn’t been enough care put into it.
Now, don’t get me wrong—this is still a ten-out-of-ten game with amazing themed bonus features, a handy max win, and is an altogether enjoyable experience. It could have been something truly special.
