Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
Gwyndoleen’s “Embracing the Future” is a lovely shot that captures the magic of fireworks in the celebration of the New Year. Also, isn’t it lovely to enjoy the fireworks from inside rather than out in the rain or snow? As the Earth spun on its axis and into 2024, cities across the world had celebratory fireworks. The same was true in Second Life. I thought I might check in on the celebrations.

Dax and his friends had the maximalist display of fireworks. I bet you could read a book by the light of those fireworks. Wow!
Kairi Kuroi’s untitled thirteen-second video is adorable. They kiss, there are fireworks, a trope come to life. I love how the fireworks are framed by them and the tree. It’s just lovely.
GRAVES Ghostly’s “Happy New Year” has confetti (Inside the house! Holy brooms and dustpans, Batman!) but confetti was the best part of my New Year when, at 9 p.m., the Times Square clock ticked over to midnight and all this confetti started falling. I watched my cat trying to catch confetti until the last of it fell. It was hilarious.
♡ ʟɪɴᴀ advises all of us to “Enjoy, be grateful and take risks, you have 365 more to do it.” On one hand, it’s good advice. On the other, it makes 2025 sound like the zombie apocalypse. I love the background. Several folks used it, but I thought this the most effective as the sign is not off in the distance.
Ty kisses his beloved at midnight, a widespread tradition. In many cultures, New Year’s Day is the harbinger of the coming year. That first kiss of the year is to get your love off to a good start for the year. It fits with my family’s New Year’s maxim. “Start the year as you want it to be, with a clean house, good food, and friends and family.”
There’s a lot of fun photos that I just didn’t have room to include, but I added them to the slideshow of all my faves at the bottom of this post.
