Cajsa Lilliehook covers the best in virtual world screenshot art and digital painting
According to SL Flickr photographer The Charlie's Angels, it is “Snowing in New Haven.”
According to social media, it is also snowing over many Second Lifers’ first life. We’re taking bets in Portland on whether or not we might get some of the white stuff, too. My cat snuck out and didn’t even get to the stairs before turning around and running back inside, so I think she’s betting on snow.
A lot of people like congruence, so while it snows in on both sides of the Atlantic, folks want some snow in Second Life, too. I love how Angels captures the frenetic fullness of a blizzard, the falling snow blending with the blowing snow so the snow comes at you from multiple directions.

Who knew you could ride a lion in a blizzard? Not me. Langstrath Valley is riding a lion in a blizzard.
PETA is not going to denounce Mr. Valley as they recently did Tom Sandoval, who infamously cheated on his partner with her good friend when his partner’s dog died — i.e., Scandoval, the celebrity scandal that was covered by the New York Times and NPR, as well as the tabloids. So, Tom, instead of flying to Thailand to get a tiger to stand on you, you could have just logged into SL and rode the King of the Jungle and PETA would not have said boo.
This one from Friiiday Nightfire speaks to me though it’s on a dry lake bed rather than a lake which is probably why there are only four vehicles. There’s no ice fishing. Where I grew up, there were so many ice fishing the township paid someone with a plow to make roads on the ice. The next town over put a junker out on the ice and folks cast bets on what day it would fall through in the spring. I love the spare feeling, the wide-open space The world in white. This picture really feels like a storm, the low visibility worsened by how hard it is to see in a blizzard.
Here is Alsatian Kidd depicting one of the heroes of the blizzard season. There’s nothing worse than the power going out during a storm. Sure, it’s cold enough you can keep your food from spoiling by moving it out in the garage, but you’re cut off from radio, television, the mail carrier, and everything else until the roads open and power is restored. Aliens could have landed and you would not even know!
Randonee Noel uses a bit of understatement for “…snowed a little…” Where’s her snowshoes? I’ve walked out to mark the road for the snowplow when it’s been this deep or deeper, but I had snowshoes. She’s going to get soaking wet. She might freeze. She might even freeze solid as one of my family friends did years ago.
I hope all of you experiencing heavy rains or blizzards this week can stay warm, cozy, and safe.
